The Association for Bilingualism in Cyprus is a non-governmental organization that consists of 22 founding members (11 Greek Cypriots and 11 Turkish Cypriots), who master both Turkish and Greek. The founding members of the Association are : translators, Greek teachers, Turkish teachers, Greek philologists, Turkish philologists, turkologists and also academics and linguists who have conducted research in the Greek and Turkish languages.
Members of our association include: people who are learning Turkish and Greek, people who work in the field of Turkish and Greek and also people who have adopted a culture of peace and support the dialogue between the two communities.
She has a Ph.D. at the Department of Turkish Studies and Modern Asian Studies of the University of Athens in “Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language to Greek Speakers.” She has extensive professional experience in teaching Turkish at the Language Centre of the University of Cyprus where she is currently working as a Turkish instructor and coordinator. She is also a translator of Greek and Turkish languages. She is a member of the Pancyprian Turkish Exam Commission of the Ministry of Education and also of the Translation Committee of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education.
She works as an instructor of the Turkish language at the Language Centre University of Cyprus. She is a Ph.D. Candidate at the School of Humanities, Social and Education Sciences European University Cyprus on the teaching of foreign languages and the case of learning the Turkish language in Cyprus.
She has completed her under-graduate studies at the Department of Modern Greek Language and Literature University of Ankara and her post-graduate studies at the department of Modern Greek Studies University of Cyprus. She worked for 12 years as a translator and now works as Greek teacher in a secondary school.
He holds a BA in History from the Democritus University of Thrace, an MA in Modern Turkish Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London and a PhD in History from the same university. He has taught as a visiting lecturer at the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies of the University of Cyprus and at the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University in Athens and is currently working as a certified translator.
The Association for Bilingualism in Cyprus aims to disseminate bilingualism in Cyprus. It intends to create favorable conditions to the learning of the two official languages in Cyprus, Greek and Turkish, in both the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities. In this context, efforts will be made for the development of a teaching policy for the Greek and Turkish languages. Besides bilingualism and pedagogical issues concerning the teaching and learning of Greek and Turkish as second/foreign languages, other important matters such as translation issues from Turkish to Greek and vice versa, as well as terminology issues will also be emphasized.
One of the fundamental purposes of the Association for Bilingualism in Cyprus is to eliminate the “language barrier” that prevents communication between the two communities, and to contribute (to the efforts for) peace and reconciliation in Cyprus.
As Association for Bilingualism in Cyprus we offer seminars for learning Greek language for adults from A1 to C1 level. All the seminars are contacted with modern teaching methods and with methods based on verbal communication, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Greek-Turkish and Turkish-Greek workshops are composed from two different sessions and are contacted by specialised translators. These workshops are focused on Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot language students who want to improve their knowledge in this field. The translations include several matters from Greek to Turkish and from Turkish to Greek. At the end of the workshop’s participants will receive attendance certificates.
The Association for Bilingualism in Cyprus organize bilingual seminars of Greek and Turkish for children. The seminars targeting the concurrently teaching of Greek and Turkish, help to give the children the opportunity, threw cooperative games to learn with an enjoyable and interactive way.
Bilingual seminars for professional development are being organized for new graduates and students of the Turkish and Greek language and for persons who want to improve their knowledge and experience in this field. After the completion of the seminar’s attendance certificates will be given.
